Subject:
Response to NRC questions - Reload 6, Cycle 7
Dear Mr. Ippolito:
Reference i submitted for NRC approval the standard reload application for Cycle 7 at Cooper Nuclear Station.
In subsequent discussions with the staff, Nebraska Public Power District was requested to answer the following question for= ally on the Docket.
Question:
In section 13 " Stability Analysis Results" of the Supplemental Reload Licensing Sub=ittal, the decay ratio for the 7x7 channel is defined as 0.0.
For the previous cycle this value was 0.22.
Provide an a=plifying discussion.
Response
The decay ratio for a 7x7 channel during Cycle 7 has been determined to be :ero out to the fourth decimal place.
7x7 channels are typically more stable than Sx3 channels, and the few remaining in the core during Cycle 7 are located in the outer periphery and operate with a low void fraction; therefore, analytically determined stability for these channels is expected.
Due to the accelerated outage schedule for CNS, approval of the reload license amend =ent prior to May 8, 1981 is once again respectfully requested.
Sincerely, N
'A
