Dear Mr. Smith,
k.') ;
Y I would like to state my objections to restarting the Three Mile Is ad gp \\
Unit I nuclear reactor.
The foremost reason for my opposition, is that two years after the accident at Unit II, there is still no adequate state or local evacuation plan to insure the safety of the. area's residents.
Also, in the event of a severe accident the insurance coverage for area residents and businesses provided by the Price-Anderson Act would be inadaquate due toJ}.hs rava.ges of inflation and the volume of claims filed.
Finally, the problem of proper storage, transport and disposal of radio-active wastes from the Unit I reactor and the contaminated portions cf the damaged Unit II reactor has not been solved.
According to the U.S. Department of Energy, the Perr "f vania-Jersey-Maryland i
power grid has enough excess power tc supply Met-Ed's customers for the for-seeable future. As a Met-Ed customer, I am willing to pay the increased cost for this purchased power while TMI Unit I lies idle until the above problems can be resolved.
' Sincerely yours,
$ fssb+
