FARLEY NUCLEAR PLANT UNITS 1 AND 2 FIRE PROTECTION SYSTEM FIRE DOORS The Farley Nuclear Plant Fire Protection Program Reevaluation (FPPR) states that doors on fire zone boundaries will meet a three-hour Underwriters Laboratory (UL) fire rating. There is one category of doors (doors with transoms) found during the recent inspections of Unit 2 fire protection installation for which a UL rating is not practical based on their particular utilization and design. These doors represent the best construction and design available for the respective door application and provide maximum fire retardency capability.
These doors are provided with removable transoms above them to facilitate the movement of large equicment (e.g. electrical cabinets).
The particular doors listed in the Attachr.nt 1 and their frames meet U.L. Class A Standards and bear a UL labei. The respective transoms have been certified by the vendor as being constructed of materials and in a j
manner similar to that of the UL Class A criteria. The door and transom l
assembly, however, has not and cannot be certified as Class A.
It is our opinion that these assemblies meet the highest fire rating standards and provide sufficient fire retardency capability. Based upon this evaluation these assemblies are not scheduled for replacement.
