SUBJECT:
Vermont Yankee Emergency Operations Facility Meeting, March 30, 1981 On March 30, 1931 the NRC staff met with Yankee Atomic Electric Company (YAEC).to discuss requirements for the emergency operations facility.
Discussion involved the requirements for emergency operations centers as contained in the enclosure to the NRC letter dated February 18, 1981. YAEC personnel described operating experience, maintenance practices, and tentative facility locations for the particular plants serviced by YAEC.
The staff presented rationale underlying the staff requirements, and advised YAEC to provide support in their formal submittals in several areas.
Areas discussed included:
1)
Staffing on shift Health physics / chemistry support Communications "aintenance Response Times 2)
Protection Factors 3) location of emergency operations facilities.
The licensee now understands more of the basis and origin of the requirements stated in the February 18, 1981 letter, and will take this knowledge into consideration in preparing their forma u4mittal.
