Dear Mr. Engelken:
This.is in response to your letter dated January 27, 1981, which transmitted IE Bulletin 81-01 concerning surveil-lance of mechanical snubbers.
Items 1 and 2 of the subject bulletin requested us to perform examinations and testing on mechanical snubbers manufactured by International Nuclear Safeguards Corporation
-(INC).
There are no INC snubbers in use in safety related systems at Humboldt Bay Power Plant.
Item 3 of the subject bulletin requested us to " pro-vide a schedule for an inspection program covering mechanical snubbers provided by other manufacturers."
The plant is pres-ently shutdown with an indefinite schedule for future operation.
Prior to resuming power operation, a schedule for the inspection of mechanical snubbers and for submission of the inspection re-sults will be provided.
It is estimated that approximately 3 man-hours have been expended to review and respond to the subject bulletin.
