ENCLOSURE YELLOW CREEK NUCLEAR PLANT UNITS 1 AND 2 UNVERIFIED SEISMIC ANALYSIS FOR FINAL DESIGN YCRD-50-566/81-04, YCRD-50-567/81-03 10 CFR 50.55(e)
FIRST INTERIM REPORT Description of Deficiency During review of design drawings, it was discovered that the final design had been completed and construction drawings issued based on preliminary seismic analysis for the Essential Raw Cooling Water (ERCW) Pumping Station, equipment hatch access platform, and Waste Management Building.
Engineers failed to observe the seismic input had not been verified.
Interim Progress TVA is proceeding to complete the seismic analyses of the before-mentioned structures. The status of these analyses are as follows:
1.
Essential Rav Cooling Water Pumping Station The seismic analysis of this structure his been completed but has not been verified. TVA is now in the process of verifying the se smic analysis for the ERCW Pumping Station. Although the results of the analyses have not been verified, TVA has confidence that they are~
adequate since they compared favorably to the results of the seismic analysis of an earlier design configuration of this structure.
2.
Equipment Hatch Access Platform The seismic analysis of this structure has been completed, but the verification has not been completed. TVA is in the process of verifying the seismic analysis for the equipment hatch access platform.
3 Waste Management Building There have been changes to this structure since the completion of the seismic analysis. Therefore, instead of verifying the current analysis, TVA is proceeding with a new seismic analysis of the structure.
