(Three Lile Island, Unit 1 Docket 50-259)
Intervenors Earjorie ane Norman Aamod: respectfully request a further extension of time, until February 23, 1951, to file written testimony dealing with infant thyroid exposure to racio-active iodine resulting fro the CEI - 2 accident, in support of Aarcet contention 4 ( P -1).
Intervenors request a favorable ruling upon a balancing of the following factors (CFR10-2.714}
1.
Intervenors assert good cause on the basis of appropriate, responsive use of all available time in preparation of cross-exacination of Licensee and Staff witnesses ana prepara-tion of support of testimony on Aamodt contention 2.
Luring this period attempts were made to obtain subject testimony from desired expert witnesses.
That testimony will be delivered to Intervenor Saturday, February 21.
2.
No other means are available to protect intervenors' interest.
3.
Intervenors subject testitony may reasonably be s.
pected to assist in developing a sound record.
Intervenor will present a recent analysis of data which will demonstrate a
'Sh )
clearly definable relationship between radioactive releases during the IT.!-2 accident and infant thyroia damage of a 9
life-endangering tegnitude.
The impact of this informati:n h

on notification procedures is of obvious significance.
4 Intervenors' interes-is not represented by other existing parties.
Cartention :- 11 (iCHF) was allowec anc accressec this issue but has been abandoned.
5.
Inclusions of the subject testimony will not broacen the issues, in the sense that the nexus to the CI.I-2 accident is clear and the impact on notif'.cction procedures is clearly within the scope of Aamodt contention 4 irerentation of the subject testimony ana cross-examination thereon is not expectea to exceed two hours.
Intervenor contacted both the licensee and the Staff for an ex ression of willingness to support Intervenors' request for an extension of time for filing to February 23.
Licensee's Zahler refused tc accede to the request.
Staff Gray acceded.
Intervenor further sugrests that contention 4 will in all likelihooc not be litisated prior to fifteen days following February 23 (CFh 10 - 2.743) and/ar after all parties have had a reasonable opportunity to exacine the subject testimony.
