Mr. Howard D. Zeller, Assistant Director Enforcement Division U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Region IV 345 Courtland Street, NF..

Atlanta, Georgia 30308

Dear Mr. Zeller:

SEQUOYAH NUCLEAR PLANT - NPDES PERMIT NO. TN0026450 - OPERATIONAL AQUATIC MONITORING REPORT Part I, Section B.l.f.,and Part III, Section G,of the subject permit require the operacional aquatic monitoring program for Sequoyah Nuclear Plant to begin upon commercial operation of Unit 1 with the first report due March 31, 1981. Since this permit was issued, delays postponing commercial operation have delayed implementation of most of the aquatic operational monitoring program. The Unit 1 operational monitoring program commenced on January 5, 1981. Therefore, we request that~the March 31, 1981, due date for the first annual report be revised to July 5, 1982, with subsequent reports due annually thereafter. This revised report due date will allow TVA to obtain data for one year and provide adequate time to prepare a report on the information.

Please advise us of your concurrence with these recommendations at your earliest convenience. Until we hear from you, we will not plan on submitting a report on March 31, 1981.

Sincerely, l , lArf. . .f 5 /f,.A Mohamed T. El-Ashry, Ph.D.
