Three Mile Island Nuclear Station, Unit 1 (TMI-1)
Operating License No. DPR-50 Docket No. 50-289 Licensed Operator Trainees This letter is in response to your letter of November 20, 1980, concerning our plans for replacement operators following restart.
The authorized level of Control Room Operators, Shift Foremen, and Shift Supervisors are more than adequate to meet our manning :ommitments. As vacancies are created, personnel will enter the established licensed training program. Our current authorized manning permits twelve (12) individuals to be in training for SRO/R0 licenses while at the same time manning each shift with two (2) SRO's and two (2) CR0's.
At present, TMI-l has 22 Control Room Operators, 7 Shift Foremen, and 6 Shift Supervisors. Of these, 10 have SR0 licenses and 13 have RO licenses. Current plans are that 3 operators will be examined for their SRO license and 9 operators will be examined for their R0 license for the first time during scheduled reexamination of all operators by the NRC prior to restart.
In addition, between of f shif t operations personnel, and training personnel, there are five additional SRO licenses to fill unexpected vacancies should they exist.
