Shipment of Process Residues, Shop Decontamination Waste, Contaminated Glass Raschig Rings and Filters from the UNC Recovery Facility in January, 1981.

As discussed in the referenced letter, UNC Recovery Systems has received an allocation of burial space for the month of January 1981 from the State of South Carolina.
Region I performed an inspection of this packaged waste on January 15 and 16 prior to the release of the shipment of 88 drums to the burial site.
The packages of waste did not contain any 1agoon waste.
The waste material was from the plant process area.
The attached listing provides the contents of each drum.
UNC Recovery Systems is reopening and reinspecting every container of waste even though some of the containers were prepared under their quality assurance programs and implementing procedures for packaging the waste.
As previously stated, Region I inspected the packages, including the opening of selected packages, and inspected the licensee's quality assurance records thereby verify-ing that no liquid waste was present and the waste was acceptably packaged for shipment.
