SUMMARY

OF JANUARY 5-8, 1981 CASELOAD FORECAST PANEL MEETING AND SITE VISIT The applicant held meetings with the representatives of NRC's Caseload Forecast Panel at the sites of the Byron and Braidwood Stations. The meeting at the Byron Station was held on January 6 and 7,1981 ;nd the Braidwood meeting was held on January 8,1981. The meeting agendc (Eaclosure 1) and the list of attendees (Enclosure 2) are attached.

The applicant first described the progress of Byron Station construction. As of November 1980, Spool Erection (21/2" and larger subassemblies) was 94%

complete, weldout (21/2" and Larger Piping) 88% complete and 2" and Under Piping was 49% complete. The applicant also indicated that Hangers installation (2 1/2" and Larger Piping) was about 60% mmplete, Electric cable Pans instal-lation was 92% complete, 63% of cables we e pulled and 54% were terminated.

For Braidwood Station, the applicant indicated that Spool Erection (21/2" and larger subassemblies) was 50% complete, weldout (21/2" and larger piping) 45%

complete and 45% of the Hangers (2 1/2" and larger piping) were installed.

Conclusions The applicant is currently behind schedule in Hanger and Instrumentation installation at the Byron Station Unit 1.

Based on the status of construction at this time, the t!RC Panel projected a December 1983 fuel load date f or Byron Station Unit 1 (8 months delay) and concurred with the current April 1985 fuel load date for Braidwood Station Unit 1.

6.

Detailed review of project schedule identifying critical path items, near critical items, amount of float for various activities, the current critical path to fuel loading, methods of implementation of corrective action for any activities with negative float, and provisions for contingencies.

The estimated project percent complete as of September 30, 1980.

Detailed review and current status of bulk quantities including i

current estimated quantities, quantities installed to date, quantities scheduled to date, current percent complete for each, actual versus forecast. installation rates, and basis for figures.
