Dear Mr. O'Reilly:
On November 26, 1980, Mr. Bob McFarland of NRC Region II was notified of a potential substantial safety hazard on the subject: Defective 480 Volt Switchgear Trip Units. The report was made by Mr. J. A. Wactor.
An interim report on the subject was made by letter to you dated 12/23/80.
As stated in the interim letter; the defective units were returned to the manufacturer for testing. We have received reports from the manufacturer, but we still have unresolved concerns in the testing of these units.
We expect to have a resolution and a final report on the subject by February 23, 1981.
