~_ e I REOUEST FOR RELIEF 11-10 System: All systems Class: 1, 2, and 3 l Test Requirement: Pressure tests following repair to components in j . accordance with IWA-4210. Basis for Relief: Performance of a pressure test af ter minor repairs by welding is unnecessary. An increase in the level of safety of the component is not realized. Other nondestructive tests (PT, UT, etc.), if applicable, shall be employed in a case-by-case basis in accordance i with documented TVA repair procedures which are j maintained by a QA program in accordance with _m IWA-4100 (b). In addition, 10 CFR, Part 50, 50.55a has been revised to incorporate by reference the 1977 edition, summer 1978 Addenda of Section XI. This addenda permits exemption from pressure testing following certain repairs by welding. Alternate Teating: The guidelines set forth in IWA-4409 of the 1977 edition, summer 1978 Addenda of Section XI, shall be followed.
