'CD l June 30, 1969 These reports cover the irradiation experiences of the center-melt fuel, the subsequent analyses of the failures during Cycle 5 and the corrective action necessary to continue the centermelt fuel irradia-tions. Thirty-eight additional copies of these reports, except for GFAP-5771 which is the same as our Special Report SR-10 to the USAEC, will be sent as soon as printing is completed in a few weeks.
In addition to the various analyses noted in the above-mentioned reports, the General Electric Company will be conducting further hot-laboratory examinations of centermelt fuel rods from f
Bundle D-50 which failed during the subsequent Cycle 6.
If these examinations yield evidence corroborating our previous conclusions 1

and a future meetin;; with your staff, once the additional data is collected, will facilitate matters so that the centermelt fuel may be inserted in the reactor in late February 1970.
