Beaver Valley Power Station, Unit No. 1 Docket No. 50-334, License No. DPR-66 IE Bulletin 80-21 Gentlemen:

We have reviewed the referenced bulletin and initiated the -.

appropriate actions to determine if any valve components cast by the Malcolm Foundry Company, Inc. have been used in any active valves in safety-related systems.

Our research effort consists of contacting all appropriate valve suppliers to determine if they have had dealings with the Malcolm Foundry Company.

All inquiries tis: f. e have resulted. in the determination that there are no components in our valves 17. safety-related systems which were manufactured by the Malcolm Foundry.

Included in our inquiry was the Anchor Darling Valve Company.

We have identified at least 52 valve suppliers and have contacted 36 of them. Due to the large number of valve suppliers and the work required by them in researching their own records, we have not been able to conclusively determine from all valve suppliers if they have dealt with and purchased for our plant valve components from the Malcolm Foundry.

It is expected that all research into this bulletin can be accomplished within the next three weeks, tnd by this letter we are requesting an extension until December 30, 1980 for providing the information requested in the bulletin.
