Dear Mr. O' Leary:
Transmitted herewith are three (3) executed and thirty-seven (37) confomed copies of a request for a change to the Tech-nical Specifications of License DPR-6, Docket No 50-155, issued to Consumers Power Company on May 1, 1964 for the Big Rock Point Nuclear Plant.
This proposed change (No 34) vill enable Consumers Power Company to insert into the reactor at Big Rock Point a fuel design designated NFS-DA fuel.
This fuel (four bundles total) has been designed and fab-ricated by Nuclear Fuel Services, Incorporated. Each fuel assembly contains approximately 2.3 kilograms nf fissile plutonium, approxi-mately three times the normal end-of-life self-generation level. The plutonium loading is distributed such that it minimizes the effects of plutonium on power peaking and control rod worth.
It is our intention to insert this fuel into the Big Rock Point reactor during our next refueling outage which is currently scheduled for February-March 1973.
