SUBJECT:
MALFUNCTION OF.THE MAIN STEAM HOT REHEAT VALVES The licensee reported that on trip of the main turbine, the hot reheat valves failed to fully close. The hot reheat valves are the equivalent to turbine intercept valves. The trip of. the main -turbine ~was performed at low power.
conditions to investigate suspected problems with the hot reheat valves.. There...
was no overspeed of the main turbine;e The facility will. sliutdown for approximately 7 da~ys' to investigate ~and make repairs.
Region IV (Arlington, Texas) was initially notified at 10:00 a.m. (CST) by the resident inspector.
The licensee is considering making a press release. Region IV does not plan to make a release.
Fort St. Vrain is a high temperature gas cooled reactors. (HTGR)_
