In a letter dated August 22, 1980, Dr. Malinauskas transmitted to Mr.00enton a copy of your August 14, 1980 letter addressed to Chatman Ahearne on the subject of iodine behavior during nuclear reactor accidents. There are a number of members of the NRC staff who have expressed interest in your views and would like to have the opportunity to explore them to a greater extent.
Accordingly I had asked Dr. R. W. Houston, Chief, Accident Evaluation Branch of HRR, to arrange for a meeting with you and a number of NRC staff members.
I understand that all of you are available to come to Bethesda on Wednesday, October 22, 1980 and we are proceeding to make final arrangements. We have reserved one of our conference rooms (P-118) in the Phillips Building from 9:00 a.m. until noon for thf s purpose and will shortly be transmitting a meeting notice to others on the NRC staff.
