Reactor. This amendment consists of changes to the Facility Cperating License j
l and the Technical Specifications in response to your application dated March l
13, 1980 and subsequent correspcndence of October 10, 1980.

This amendment authorizes MIT to receive, possess and analyze byproduct material, which had been previously activated in reactors other than the MIT Research i
l Reactor, in the het cells. The amendment provides for a maxiaum inventory of 1,000,000 curies of byproduct material that is in solid form only and whose atomic numbers are between 3 2nd 83.

Changes to your Technical Specifications were necessary to meet our requirements.
These changes have been discussed with and agreed to by your staff.
