Request for Hearing on Environmental Qualification of Electrical Equipment
Dear Sir:
By Re ference (b), the NRC staff issued an order for modification of license for the Maine Yankee Atomic Power Station requiring that by June 30, 1982 all safety-related electrical equipment in the facility be qualified in accordance with the provisions of the DOR guidelines or NUREG-0583. The order provides that the licensee may request a hearing within 20 days of the date of publication of the order in the Federal Register. This provision is also identified in 45 Federal Register 75810-75811 dated November 17, 1980 for license DPR 36.
Please be advised that Maine Yankee Atomic Power Company hearby requests that a hearing be conducted on the issue of whether all safety-related electrical equipment at the Maine Yankee Atomic Power Station should be environmentally qualified in accordance with the D0R guidelines or NUREG-0588 by June 30, 1982 as required by the order. The licensee intends that this request for a hearing will provide Maine Yankee Atomic Power Company with ample opportunity to clarify the requirements of the order with the staff and review the safety evaluation reports scheduled for issuance February 1,1981.
