Shortnose sturgeon collection at Maine Yankee October 27, 1980
Dear Sir:
This letter provides additional details pertaining to the collection of a decomposing shortnose sturgeon (Acice>tSet hiev6t04ttum) on the Maine Yankee trash racks as reported to your office on October 28, 1980.
At or about 1420 hours0.0164 days <br />0.394 hours <br />0.00235 weeks <br />5.4031e-4 months <br /> on October 27, 1980 a shortnose sturgeon was raked from trash rack "B" during routine cleaning.
Trash racks including trash rack "B" were previously cleaned at 1230 hours0.0142 days <br />0.342 hours <br />0.00203 weeks <br />4.68015e-4 months <br /> the same day.
The dead animal was approximately 87 cm (TL) and was in very poor condition, the head being attached only by skin.
Several dorsal scutes were separated from the body and also at* ached only by flaps of skin. The sturgeon was immediately transported to Department of Marine Resources pathologict Stuart Sherburne, who may be contacted for further details.
A copy of this letter is also being sent to Mr. D.uglas Beach of National Marine Fisheries Service for NMFS' records.
