Question 1 What inspections of CEA and CEA ouide tube sleeves will be performed at the end of Unit 1, Cycle 4?

Response

Based on previous CEA and CEA quide tube exaninations, the following inspection program will be conducted. This insnection will confirn satisfactory use of sleeved guide tubes and CEAs for future cycles.

1.

CEA Exaninations Eddy current testinq of 3 to 5 CEAs usinq bobbin and pancake techniques.

CEA Identity Core Position 1C Lll 18 S20 35 J4 22 G3 1A F2 CEAs 1C,lA &l8 were anonq 5 CEAs that were eddy current tested and visually examined by TV after Cycle 3.

CEA 1 C is located in fuel assenbly BT03 which is in the core center and is unsleeved.

CEAs 35 and 22 were selected as being from potential high wear positions based on Unit 1, Cycle 1/ Cycle 2 guide tube wear data.

Fuel Assembly Insoections Eddy current testing (both bobbin and pancake) of unsleeved, discharqed fuel assembly BT03 guide tubes.

Eddy current testing (bobbin only) of up to 5 discharged sleeved D assemblies that resided under CEAs in moderate to hiqh wear locations for 2 cycles.

These assemblies include:

D015, 0028, D036, D038 and D040. This exam may be optional based on the results of a similar inspection at flillstone II.
