ENCLOSURE (1) o REPLY TO REQUEST FOR ADDITION AL INFORM ATION; EDG TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION AMENDMENT INTRODUCTION We have reviewed your request for additional information regarding our EDG Technical Specification Amendment request and provide the following answers to your questions:
OUESTION NO. I in your December 14, 1988 application, you stated that Preventive Maintenance Procedures were under development for an annual main and connecting rod bearing inspection and an annual hydrostatic test of the jacket water and intercooler system.
With respect to these preventive maintenance surveillances, please provide the following:
1.
The schedule for final approval of these preventive maintenance (PM) procedures.
Resoonse The final completion and approval of the PM procedures is scheduled for April 11,1990.
2.
A description of any grace periods or extensions permitted for these two annual PM surveillances.
Resoonse The new PMs will be implemented in accordance with our existing Preventive Maintenance Program, described in Calvert Cliffs Instruction (CCl)-211. Under CCI-211 a 25% grace period is allowed for annual PMs. Thus, the grace period for the new PMs will be 3 months.
3.
Affirmation that these procedures were developed using the standards, and that they do in fact meet the standards, of your procedures upgrade program.
Response
The new PMs will be developed using the standards established by the Procedures Upgrade Program as described in CCI-101.
