WEST VALLEY ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT STATEMENT DOCUMENTS On November 6, 1989, I met briefly with Richard L. Bangart, Director of the Division of Low-level Waste Management and Decommissioning, and Willis W.
Bixby Director of the Department of Energy's West Valley Froject Office. The main topic of discussion was NRC review of documents the Department of Energy has prepared concerning their environnental impact statement on low. level waste disposal and post-project site disposition.
Dr. Bixby requested that the NRC staff review the documents submitted to us in August 1989 (the Site Characterization Plan, the Performance Assessment, and the Implementation Plan) and expresseo ins wish to meet in February 1990 to discuss the staff's opinions.
Dr. Bixby was also interested in the NRC staff's experience with groundwater models and specifically asked that this topic be incluced in the February meeting.
