Dear Mr. Youngblooo:

Enclosed is a summary of the first year of preoperational fog and rime ice observations in tne vicinity of the cooling pond as i requested in Reference (1). The summary consists of: (a)

Attacnment 1, which is a summary of the ocservations where visibility restrictions due to fcg were 1/4 mile or less, anc (c)

Attachment 2, which are copies of the four quarterly summaries tnat include all incidences of observed fog and rime ice.

In summary, there were 10 days out of the 249 observatin

, oays where visibility restrictions were less than 1/4 mile and only j 4 of these cays that visibility was restricted to 500 feet or less.

There were no observations of rime ice buildup during 1980.

The data collected during the operational phase will be analyzed, interpreted and compared with this preoperational monitoring data in accordance with our Draft Environmental Technical Specitications submitted to the NRC on January 23, 1981 (Reference 2).
