2019 Report of Changes and Errors to 10 CFR 50.46 Analysis Grand Gulf Nuclear Station, Unit 1 NRC Docket No. 50-416 Renewed Facility Operating License No. NPF-29
- 1. Entergy letter to NRC, GNR0-2018/00046, "2018 Report of Changes and Errors to 1 OCFR50.46," dated October 16, 2018 (ADAMS Accession No. ML18290A536).
In accordance with 10 CFR 50.46(a)(3)(ii), Grand Gulf Nuclear Station, Unit 1 (GGNS), is required to report to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, at least annually, the estimated effect on the limiting Emergency Core Cooling System (ECCS) analysis caused by changes to, or errors discovered in, the acceptance ECCS evaluation model.
In Reference 1, an error in the Loss of Coolant Accident (LOCA) analysis was reported.
Specifically, the lower limit for the control rod guide tube to control rod drive housing interface backward leakage path was not implemented correctly. General Electric Hitachi (GEH) has performed an evaluation and demonstrated that there is no impact to the calculated peak clad '
temperature (PCT) associated with this error. The current Licensing Basis PCT for GGNS is
<1730 degrees F. This is below the 2200 degrees F acceptance criterion of 10 CFR 50.46.
