Dear Mr. Perkins:
The purpose of this letter is to confirm discussions we had on November 26, 1980 and subsequent conversations regcrding the organization and conduct of a workshop concerning radiological surveys in support of the Edgemont Cleanup Action Program which you are presently conducting for the NRC.
You are hereby authorized to proceed to organize, conduct and participate in a workshop which will help to fulfill the requirements under Task A,
" Data Collection and Collation," of your Form 189, " Environmental Cleanup Standards for Low-Level Radioactive Waste Materials" (FIN No. B-2216-0, dated September 24,1980). As of this date, the tentative plans are for you to:

Arrange to hold the workshop beginning in the afternoon of January 21, and all day on January 22, 1981.

Select and arrange for a convenient meeting place in Denver, Colorado.

Extend written invitations to appropriate technical personnel who are or have been performing similar studies; e.g., Grand Junction, C0 and the inactive tailings pile sites, and to the EPA and DOE.
l 4.
The workshop should focus on the radiological studies being performed in Edgemont, and participants should be urged to discuss their experiences as they relate to the procedures being utilized in Edgemont.
5.
BPNL shall organize and conduct this workshop, and BPNL shall participate in the proceedings on behalf of the NRC under this contract (i.e.,B-2216-0).
In this respect, you are requested to prep'are a presentation describing the radiological surveys being conducted in Edgemont, and to summarize the results of these sarveys.
This written presentation shall be submitted for NRC review and approval by January 9,1981.
