Dear Mr. Keppler:

PRAIRIE ISLAND NUCLEAR GENERATING PLANT DOCKET NOS. 50-282 AND 50-306 In further response to IE Bulletin No. 80-20, the following is offered:

A technical problem has prevented rewiring of the indicating lights for the W-2 switches to show total circuit continuity as indicated in our previous response. This design has been abandoned in favor of the design proposed in the Westinghouse Technical Bulletin. The Design Change has been modified.

Implementation of the Westinghouse design requires extensive rewiring of some switches. Modifications to switches that do not require extensive rewiring have been completed for Unit 1 and are in progress for Unit 2.

Modifications to switches that do require extensive rewiring will be completed as plant con-diticns permit.

To date approximately 530 manhours were spent in the necessary engineering required by this Bulletin. Modification and testing associated with corrective acti ms will take about 250 manhours.

Yours truly, D. E. Gilberts Senior Vice President Power Supply a
