Dear Mr. Keppler:
In Toledo Edison's previous letters of June 16, 1980 (Scrial No. 1-137),
June 30, 1980 (Serial No. 1-146) and July 1, 1980 (Serial No. 1-147) and during the July 22-24, 31 and August 1, 1980 inspection of your Mr. I. T.
Yin (Report No. 50-346/80-22) we addressed the projected schedule for the completion of the pipe support / anchor modifications required by IE Bulletins 79-02 and 79-14 at the Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station Unit 1.
In the above referenced correspondence we provided the following antici-pated schedule for the completion of this work.

outage These schedules were based on 210 modifications required by IE Bulletin 79-14 outside containment of moderate to minor complexity, a relatively small number of IE Bulletin 79-14 modifications required inside contain-ment, a minimal number of modifications required by IE Bulletin 79-02 t
and the 1980 refueling outage being completed by the end of July, 1980.
Currently all IE Bulletin 79-02 modifications inside containment are completed. There are presently 67 IE Bulletin 79-02, a greater number than anticipated, and 207 IE Bulletin 79-14 modifications to be made outside of containment. The majority of these modifications are more l

_2-complex than originally anticipated. We have reviewed our schedule for this work based on experience gained making similar modifications during our recent refueling outage and getting a late start on this work due to this outage extending into October.
Our current review indicates the necessity of extending the scheduled completion to a more realistic date. We expect the work to be complete by December 31, 1981.
Inside containment, sixty percent of the hanger reanalysis required by IE Bulletin 79-14, indentified to-date, has been completed.
No items have been identified which af fect operability. However, fifteen hangers have been identified which require minor modifications.
Based on progress to-date, we expect this analysis to be completed on schedule. We still propose to make these modifications and any others the analysis shows necessary during the unit's next refueling outage currently scheduled for March, 1982.
