Dear Mr. Watkins:
This is in response to your letter dated December 12, 1980, in which you requested, pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act, copies of all records in which the NRC staff has discussed or identified alternatives to the fire protection requirements of Appendix R to 10 CFR Part 50.
The statement by Mr. Case, to which your request refers, concerned alternatives existing in present guidance contained in Branch Technical Position No. 151, Appendix A.
This record and all other records which discuss or identify alternatives to the specific requirements of Appendix R are available for public inspection and copying at the NRC Public Document Room, 1717 H Street, N.W., Washington, DC 20555.
