Hittman Nuc' ear & Development Corporation (HITTMAN) requests that the subject Certificate of Compliance be amended. The recent HITTMAN submittals, which resulted in the subject Certificate revision, deleted specific references in the Safety Analysis Report to the cask closure lid and shield plug gasket material. The submittal cover letter, however, failed to specifically identify this change. The subject certificate revision was the'efore issued with the gasket material continuing to be specified as Viton.
HITTMAN considers BUNA-N to be an acceptable alternate material for the HN-100 Series 1 gasket application. BUNA-N is resistant to water, petroleum fluids and a wide variety of greases, ollg and lubricants. The recommended service temperature of BUNA-N (-65 to 250 F) is well suited for the HN-100 Series 1 cask application. The high temperature capability of Viton is not required for this application. BUNA-N is the gasket naterial authorized for use in the HN-1005 cask by Certificate of Compliance 9089, Revision 2.
HITTMAN has therefore revised drawing C001-5-9125 to specify the gasket material as "Viton or BUNA-N or equivalent."
HITTMAN has also revised drawing C001-5-9127 to allow optional configurations for the lifting lug covers. These covers will still be required in order to satisfy Condition 7 of the subject certificate.
HITTMAN therefore equests that the subject certificate be revised as follows:

In paragraph 5.(a) (2), change the eighth and eleventh sentences to in lieu read "....Viton or BUNA-N or equivalent 0-ring gasket of "....Viton 0-ring gasket I
2.
Replace paragraph 5 (a) (3) with the following: "The packaging is l
constructed in accordance with Hittman Nuclear & Development Corporation J
Drawing Nos. C001-5-9125, Revision 2; C001-5-9126, Revision 1; l
and C001-5-9127, Revision 1."
