20555 Gentlemen:
Millstone Nuclear Power Station, Unit No.1 EWR Scram Discharge Systems Ey letter dated January 9,1981, the NRC Staff issued an Order for Modification of License for Millstone Unit No.1, which requires that by April 9,1981 an automatic dump system be installed on the control air header. The order per-mits the licensee to request a hearing within 20 days of the date of publication of the Order in the Federal Register, which was January 28, 1981, Volume 46, No. 18 at 9277 Please be advised that Northeast Nuclear Energy Company hereby requests that a hearing be conducted on the issue of whether the licensee should be required to have the automatic system operable by April 9,1981, as required by the Order.
The licensee intends that this request for a hearing vill provide NUECO with an opportunity to clarify the requirements of the Order with the Staff and to allow opportunity for the requirements to be adequately assessed from the standpoint of cafety evaluations and unreviewed safety questions potentially introduced by the Order.
