Gentlemen:
In response to the Item of Noncompliance included in the subject report, the following is provided.
NOTICE OF DEVIATION 3ased on the results of an NRC inspection conducted during the period of October 22 - November 21, 1980, it appears that one of your activities was l
not concucted in accordance with your commitments to the Commission as indi-l cated below:
Arkansas Power and Light Company, in a letter to the Commission dated January 18, 1980, stated that the High Range Noble Gas Effluent Monitor
"... will be checked against a remotely installed source monthly, and calibrated every three months."
In deviation from the above, no monthly checks and no calibrations of this instrucent have been performed since the installation and original calibration of the instrument in January 1980.

RESPONSE
A calibration and monthly check of the High Range Noble Gas Effluent Monitor was performed on December 15, 1980. Monthly checks and quarterly calibration will continue to be perfonned as committed in the letter to the Commission dated January 18, 1980.
