Dear Mr. Engelken:

l Regulatory Operations Bulletin 74-1, dated January 3, 1974, requested that we determine whether valves similar to those described are installed or scheduled to be installed at Humboldt Bay Power Plant Unit No. 3, and to submit a report of our findings to your office within 30 days of the date of the aforementioned bulletin.

The bulletin and its Attachment A describe a deficiency in the valve yoke to the motor operator mounting plate weld in Walworth Company motor operated globe valves.

There are no' Walworth valves having motor operators installed on Unit No. 3.

The bulletin and Attachment B describe a possible generic problem with a certain category of 2-inch gate valve manufactured by the Darling Valve and Manufacturing Company.

There are no Darling valves installed on Humboldt Unit No. 3.

We have no current plans to install either Walworth or Darling valves similar to those described in Regulatory Operations Bulletin 74-1 at Humboldt Unit No. 3.
