December 3, 1975 Mr. R. H. Engelken, Director Office of Enforcement and Inspection Region V U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission 1990 N. California Boulevard Walnut Creek Plaza, Suite 202 Walnut Creek, CA 94596 Re:

Docket No. 50-133 License No. DPR-7

Dear Mr. Engelken:

Your letter dated November 3, 1975, which enclosed IE Bulletin No.75-04B, within 30 days:

rcquested that we forward to your office a)

A copy of all reports or any other documentation relating to the fire protection inspections, dates of inspections and by whom performed.

b)

A description of any actions taken or planned -

showing dates for actions - as a result of findings or recommendations from the fire protection inspec-tions or, if appropriate, our position relative to the results of the inspections performed.

Two fire protection inspections have been conducted since March 22, 1975.

One of these inspections was conducted by Marsh and McLennan, agents for Nuclear Mutual Limited (NML) on September 22, 1975.

The report on this inspection is under review by the Humboldt Bay Plant Staff, the Company's Central Fire Committee (made up of representatives of various Company General Office Departments) and the Company's Insurance Department.

Only one recommendation contained s

4 Mr. R. H. Engelken December 3, 1975 1

in this report affects insurability and concerns the construction

materials used in a new building not directly related to the nuclear safety of the plant.

The remainder of the recommendations are of a minor nature.

Until all recommendations contained in this report have be6n resolved with NML, we do not believe it would be appropriate to make a copy of this report available to the NRC.

The second inspection was the annual fire extinguisher inspedtion conducted during the period November 11 through 13, 1975 by Humboldt Fire Extinguisher Company under contract to the Company.

This inspection consisted of a visual inspection, recharging or pressure testing as required of all of the plant portable fire extin-guishers.

No report is issued on this inspection.

I Instead, each individual extinguisher has a tag indicating date and type of inspec-tion or corrective action taken.

Very truly yours, e
