O B&W Control Components, Inc Docket No. 99900262/30-01 NOTICE OF DEVIATION Based on the results of an NRC inspection conducted on August 5-6, 1980, it appears that certain of your activities were not conducted in accordance with NRC requirements as indicated below:
Criterion V of Appendix B to 10 CFR 50 and paragraph NGA-4134.5 of Section III to the ASME Code states:
" Activities affecting quality sha'_1 be prescribed by documented instructions, procedures, or drawings, of a type appropriate to the circumstances and shall be accomplished in accordance with ttrse instructions, procedures, or drawings.
Instructions, procedures, or drawings shall include appropriate quantitative or qualitative acceptan:e criteria for determining that important activities have oeen satisfactorily accomplished." Deviations from these requirements are as follows:
Section 5, paragraph 5, of the QA Manual, requires documented procedures, and changes thereto, to be reviewed and appror'd by the responsible sectica, and Quality Assurance, prior to release for implementation.
Contrary to the above, B-WCC procedure 1704-01 " Design Control" had been re-leased and implemented prior to the specified reviews and approvals of the revised procedure.
The Director of Quality Control took tne appropriate corrective acti >.t to assure that the revision of procedure 1704-01 was reviewed and approved and correctly released in accordance with the requirements of the quality assurance program.
The individuals involved were instructed concerning the need to comply with the quality assurance program requirements. Deviation Closed - No written response required.
