l This report covers the operation of the Yankee Atomic Electric l
Company at Rowe, Massachusetts, for the month of September,1971.
During the period plant load varied between 176.2 MWe and 180 3 !Ge l
as the circulating water temperature fluctuated between 59 F and 51 F During the period the primary to secondary leak rate increased from 55.3 to 123.5 gallons per day.
On September 28 a leak test was conducted to identify the steam generator with tube leakage. Analysis of the results of the test corroborated that No. 1 steam generator was the na,jor offender with negligible leakage from No.'s 2, 3 and 4 steam generators.
r The sixth, Core IX vapor container air leakage surveillance period was terminated on September 18, and the seventh such period was commenced on September 19 Leakage during the entire report period was normal.
Plant Abnormal Occurrences l
1 On September 17, 1971 during a routine leak test of the vaste gas system minor leakage was found.
3 A total volume of 103 ft was accounted for at a release rate of i
0.00h cfm.
A ceiling exhaust fan with a capability of 2100 cfm provided a 5
dilution factor of approximately 5 2 x 10.

The total activity released due to the leakage was 0.825 me.
The concentration of the released gases after dilution was 6.657 x 10-10 ue/cc.

electrical storm.
September 22 (11h5-1215):
Plant load reduction to 170 ige for turbine I
control valve exercising.
September 29 (1200-1236):
Plant load reduction to 172 ige for turbine control valve exercising.
