FOURTH JOINT STATUS REPORT Counsel for Alabama Power Company and the NRC Staff hereby 3

file this Fourth' Joint Status Report, as-required by the Board in its-Orders of July 17, 1989 and-November 6, 1989.

Discovery in this proceeding remains ongoing. -Since the L

parties. filed the Third Joint. Status Report, one deposition has i

been conducted at an installation of Dresser Industries (the pump vendor) and several additional document requests have been made and answered.

The parties are currently working to schedule all remaining depositions in January 1990.

Barring unforeseen circumstances, the parties still expect to complete discovery by the January 31, 1990 deadline agreed to prior to l

the last Joint Status Report.

As established in the Third Joint Status Report, the parties will file the next Joint Status Report and, if possible, a o
