.The purpose of this letter. is to provide Wolf. Creek Nuclear -Operating j
Corporation's (WCNOC) response to NRC' Bulletin ~ 89-02.
Bulletin 89-02 requested licensees of operating reactors to -identify, disassemble and-
.i='
inspect certain types. of swing check valves which may contain. Type 410
. stainless steel'(SS) bolting material.-

As required by Action-I'.A of.the bulletin. WCNOC performed an' evaluation to:
identify safety-related' Anchor Darling Model S350W ' swing check valves supplied with internal retaining block = studs'~of ~ ASTM specification-A193 Grade-B6. Type 410SS.
The evaluation also' reviewed the design.of other-safety-related check valves to determine if designs and material. selections t
similar to the Anchor Darling Model-S350W were used.
This evaluation j
determined that there are no safety-related AnchorLDarling Model S350W swing j
' check valves or~ check valves of a similar design at Wolf; Creek Generating'-
Station.-
