O 759o-o1 UNITED STATES NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION DOCKET NO. 50-368-ARKANSAS POWER & LIGHT COMPANY NOTICE OF ISSUANCE OF AMEN 0 MENT TO FACILITY OPERATING LICENSE The U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (the Commission) has issued Amendment No. 23 to Facility. Operating License No. NPF-6, issued to Arkansas Power & Light Company (the licensee), which revised the Technical Specifications for operation of Arkansas Nuclear One, Unit No. 2 (ANO-2) located in Pope County, Arkansas. The amendment is effective as of the date of issuance..

The amendment modifies the ANO-2 Appendix A Technical Specifications dealing with the operability requirements for fire detectors in the containment penetration rooms.

The application for the amendment complies with the standards and requirements of the Atomic. Energy Act.of 1954, as amended (the Act), and the Commission's rules and regulations. The Commission has made appropriate findings as required by the Act and the Commission's rules and regulations in 10 CFR Chapter I., which are set forth in the license amendment.

Prior public notice of the amendment was not required since the amendment does not involve a significaoc eazards consideration.

The Commission has determined that the issuance of the. amendment will not result in any significant environmental impact and that pursuant to 10 CFR 551.5(d)(4) an environmental impact s u ement or negative
