Rev. B) NRC Letter (R. S. Boyd) to Generai Electric Company (Dr. Glen G. Shemood) "RPS Power Supply Protective Circuitry" dated Febraury 23, 1979 /-
De'a r Si r:
In Ref. A), we stated that any proposed design modifications to the RPS power supply would be fomarded to your office for review prior to implementation.
General Electric Company has submitted and received approval (Ref. B)) for a conceptual design modification, which we intend to fnstall at Pilgrim Station to satisfy your concerns on this subject.
The G.E. Protective Relay Seismic Upgrade Package provides redundant, Class 1E equipment capable of de-energizing the Reactor Protection System (RPS) power suppli es. The power supplies are de-energized when their output exceeds limits within which the equipment being powered from the supplies has been designed.
This modification will be implemented prior to the end of our next refueling outage if the ordered equipment is on site to support this outage task schedule.
G.E.'s proposal says that typical delivery is 20 weeks after the acceptance of the order in San Jose, Calif.
G.E.'s shipment schedule is subject to prior ord:rs and will be confirmed prior to order acceptance. The purchase order for this equipment for implementation has been issued.
We shall notify you if any changes in scheduls are necessary.
Technical Specification changes will be submitted to your officc coincident with mudification installation.
