~ Attachment to EF2-53858 Response to NRR Staff Position SEB-2 Position (a): The applicant has been required to evaluate the seismic analysis of the spent fuel racks using the flaw response spectra derived frcan the changed design response s p. The applicant indicated that the results of the evaluation would be filed when empleted. (b) : We also required the applicant to evaluate the sliding distance of the spty racks under the design earthquake. The applicant indicated that the referenced Joseph Oat Report used in the analy-sis would be revised to show t% results of the sliding distance for the nearly empty racks.

Response

A reevaluation of the spent fuel racks was conducted by Joseph Oat employing a cmparison of the DBE floor response s p with the revised site specific floor response. The ccuparison and evaluation concluded that the spent fuel racks will remain functional during the higher site specific earthquake. Position (c): The applicant has evaluated the results of the fuel assembly drop *on top of the rack and on the fuel pool liner using the principles of conservation of eneray, conservation of mcmentum, and the Stanford Research Formula. This methodology is acceptable to the staff. However, the staff requires that the applicant subnit the detailed numerical results of this analysis.

In response to the above request, the detailed analysis and conclusion is provided in the attached report titled: "Effect of fuel assebly Drop on Spent Fuel Pool Idner", S&L calculation No. SDD-DECO-005. FEF:jsk
