Gentlemen:

This refers to the telephone discussion between S. R. Lasuk of this office and you on June 8, 1981. Enclosed are the ten smear samples which were collected in your process area by Region III inspectors on May 21, 1981.

Since there was a discrepancy between your evaluation of these smears and t tat obtained by NRC-Region III and a national laboratory, we would like to have you count these samples again for alpha and beta gamma activity (count each sample for five minutes) and send us a report of your results.

'n appreciate your cooperation in this matter.

Sincerely, D. J. Sreniawski, Chief Materials Radiation Protection Section 2
