Dear Mr. Wieseman:
On March 30,1981, 'the Alabama Power Company submitted infomation which included specific model numbers of Westinghouse nuclear steam supply equip-ment installed on the Joseph M. Farley Nuclear Plant - Unit 2.
By your affidavit dated June 11,1980, you requested the model numbers be withheld from public disclosure pursuant to 10 CFR 2.790.
t Your reasons for requesting our withholding of this infomation were that the information reveals distinguishing aspects of a process which constitutes a competitive economic advantage over other companies and its use by a competstor, would both reduce his research cf penditures and improve his competitive position.
We have reviewed your application and material based on the requirements and criteria of 10 CFR 2.790 and have determined that the above-mentioned docu-ment sought to be withheld contains trade secrets or confidential or proprie-tary convercial or financialinf'ormation.
We also have found at this time that the right of the public to be fully apprised as to the bases for and effects of the proposed action does not out-weigh the demonstrated concern for protection of your competitive position.
Accordingly, we have detemined that the infonnation should be withheld fmm public disclosure.
We therefore approve your request for withholding pursuant to Section 2.790 of 10 CFR Part 2 and are withholding the specific infomation requested from public inspection as proprietary.
Withholding fmm public inspection shall not affect the right, if any, of If the persons properly and directly concerned to inspect the doceents.
