Dear Sir:

Three Mile Island Nuclear Station, Unit 1 (TMI-N Operating License No. DPR-50 Docket No. 50-289 IE Bulletin 79-24 Frozen Lines This letter is the final response concerning the subject bulletin as referenced in our letter of November 6, 1979 (GQL 1391) which stated that the NRC would be infomed of any major deficiencies found during the heat trace inspection.

The deficicticles found did not jeopardize the safe operation or safe shutdown of the plant and redundancy was available for safety-related systems. A detailed listing of the deficiencies found and their effects is provided in the attached table.

Maintenance to correct these items was initiated on December 6, 1979, and all repairs were completed by March 30, 1980.

Additionally, a preventive main:enance program is under development to ensure continued operation of the heat tracing.

This program is scheduled for implementation by September l

1981.

Sincerely, Gll w%U H. D.
