Dear Mr. Grier:
The above referenced letter stated that a periodic maintenance program would be implemented to insure the design performance of all BFD and NBFD relays used throughout the plant. The procedures for this program are as follows:
- 1) Clean each relay with cleaner and brush;
- 2) Check contacts for wear and pitting;
- 3) Check connections for tightness; h) Relays, in the normally energized position, vill be operated several times electrically and continuity of their "used" contacts checked.
Check all others for free movement.
Our periodic maintenance program has been established for testing and inspection on a yearly basis. We feel this is an appropriate time interval based on our lov failure rate for the described Westinghouse Type BFD relays. Documentation of any failures would be made in the form of a " Maintenance Request" which is retained on file at the Plant.
