Enclosed are three (3) signed originals and thirty-seven (37) copies of a request for the following:

1.

In accordance with paragraph D.1 of Regulatory Guide 1.147 and section 50.55a(a)(2)(ii) of 10 CFR, we request the NRC staff to authorize the use of Ccde Case N-210 with the conditions speci-fled in R.G. 1.147 in the Beaver Valley Power Station Inservice Inspection Program (ISI).

Basis for Use of Code Case N-210 The use of an inservice leak test, as an alternative to a hydro-static test, provides for an acceptable level of quality and safety for those components exempteu in the Code Case as limited L

by R.G. 1.147.

2.

In accordance with section 50.55a(g)(5)(iii), we are requesting an exemption to the requirement of subsection IWA 5210, paragraph (a) of ASME Section XI 1974 edition through Summer 1975 Addenda, to maintain the test pressure for four (4) hours prior to the performance of the examinations. We propose to permit a system pressure test duration of ten (10) minutes prior to performance of the examinations for uninsulated or exposed compouents or piping.

a-Beaver Valley Power Station, Unit No. 1 Docket No. 50-334, License No. DPR-66 Regulatory Guide 1.147 and In. service Inspection Program Exemptica Page 2 Basis for Requesting Relief In the 1975 Winter Addenda and the 1977 editicns cf ASME Section XI, paragraph 5210 was changed to require only a ten (10) tinute duratien for exposed exanination areas.

The four (') hour dura-tien requirement is unnecessarily restrictive.

2ne alternative of ten (10) tinutes will provide acceptable results and the level of quality and safety will be maintained.

We have determined that this request is a Class III request in accordance with 10 CFR 170.22.

Enclosed is a check for 54,000.

I would like to request that this be handled on an energency basis.
