Dear Sir:

Subject:

Shift Technical Advisor (STA)

It has been brought to our attention that our previous submittal on this subject, Reference (d),.nay provide an inadequate basis for determining whether the current STA's meet the requirements of Reference (c).

Based on the individual's educational background, work experience and level of participation in the preliminary STA training program

[ Enclosure 1 of Reference (d)], Maine Yankee believes that each of the individuals listed on the current STA schedule is qualified to a level consistent with the guidelines provided in the October 30, 1979 letter from H. R. Denton.

Furthermore, when appropriate credit is taken for educat'onal background and experience, each of the current STA's has the requisite knowledge or has received specific training in over 80% of the topic areas outlined in Enclosure 1 to Reference (d),

which goes well beyond the requirements outlined in the October 30, 1979 H. R. Denton letter.

Additionally, Maine Yar.kee is currently taking steps to ensure that each STA has taken the requisite academic courses or has received additional specific training in all of the topics outlined in our previous submittal.

Upon completion, each STA shall have a letter of qualification attesting to this fact inserted in his personal file.

Subsequent to March 20, 1981, no individual shall be permitted to fulfill the 810seso Sto3 V
