Docket Nos. 50-443 and 50-444

Dear Dr. Trifunac:

Enclosed, for your informa" tion, is a copy of the order which was entered by the Appeal Board this morning in connec-tion with the request of the New England Coalition on Nuclear Pollution for permission to contact and consult with you.

As you will recall, the counsel to the Board, John Cho, spoke to you about the request on the telephone late last week.

As you will note from a reading of the order, the Appeal Board has denied the request insofar as it would enable the Coalition to seek your assistance in the conduct of its cross-examination of the NRC staff witnesses at the hearing.

The Board has authorized, however, consultation with you prior to the commencement of the hearing but following the submission of your prepared testimony.

That consultation is subject to certain specified terms and conditions which are set forth at page 3 of the order.

I trust that you will find them both self-explanatory and fully satisfactory.

But should you have question regarding one or more of them, please do not hesi-tate to contact me.

In my March 5 letter to you, I requested that I be fur-nished with your precise travel schedule as soon as it has been determined.

I assume that it will be forthcoming in the near future.
