Dear Kr. Ahearne:
I'= writing to urge that the Euclear Regulatory Co::ission act prc:ptly and favorably on per=itting the Three Kile Island Euclear Plant nu=ber 1 to resu e cperation.
Metro-politan Edison stands ready to add whatever operating safeguards your co==ission =ay require.
I'= told that 60% of the replacement power for this plant ec=es fro: coal and 20% fro: oil.
The ERC cust know that coal-fired electric generating plants have far more adverce health effects than nuclear plants.
And resu=ptien of cperation of this nuclear plant would eliminate i=portation of two =illion barrels of oil each year.
It takes little sense to keep TXI - 1 idle when it is ready to resure safe operation.

Sincerely yours, hm ll.u dh /-
